The Canadian International School is located on a small man made island called Koh Pic or Diamond Island. Diamond Island is a satellite city in Phnom Penh on the Mekong and Bassac rivers. The land was a swamp until the year 2000, but it is now a residential district and a separate municipality. It’s not only office buildings but condominiums, Villas, conference rooms, a Theatre, shops, houses, restaurants and coffee shops and of course, the school. The first part of the video shows the red and white Canadian International School on the right.
The story of the school goes that the owner of the school is a Cambodian lady whose father was prominent in Cambodia. She was living and working as a doctor in Canada with her family when she was asked to go back to Cambodia to help out her father with his numerous businesses. She agreed to do so only if her children could have an education like the one in Canada. So...she built Koh Pic Island and build the Canadian International School. She also owns shopping malls, hotels, banks and insurance companies.
